In the “Hermitage”

It’s cold here in Melbourne at the moment. Well, by our standards, anyway. 7 degrees celsius after a high of only 10 degrees. But the rain has stopped and the wind has completely died down, so I have lit a fire outside in my “hermitage”. That’s what my family calls my glorified, self-built, portable hut-cum-verandah out the back. It is quite snug, actually, with the fire and because it is near the ducted heater outlet from the house. It’s not completely weather proof, but gives me a dry and sheltered place to smoke my pipe, blog, read, etc. The dog keeps me company.

About Schütz

I am Catholic, married to Cathy, father of Maddy & Mia. Since 2002, I have been the Executive Officer of the Ecumenical & Interfaith Commission of the Archdiocese of Melbourne. I was once a Lutheran pastor, but a "year of grace" and soul-searching led me into the Catholic Church. It was a bumpy ride, but with the support of my (still Lutheran) wife, I was finally confirmed on June 16, 2003.
