"So long and thanks for all the fish…" – Louise hangs up her bloggers hat

Matthias (who came and helped me with cantoring in my parish on Sunday – big “ta”, Matthias) told me this, and I could hardly believe it until I got the chance to check it out this morning: Louise has closed her blog, Purcell’s Chicken Voluntary (I always loved the name). This post is from back at the end of November, which gives you some idea of how busy I have been in the last month (no time for reading anyone’s blogs but my own!).

So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Adieu
By Louise

The Time Has Come – I’m giving up the blog.

I always hate it when this happens with blogs I like, so I guess there might be a couple of slightly disappointed readers out there. I’ll leave this notice up for a couple of weeks and then shut the thing down. I will really miss conversing here with my more regular readers and I’ve been very blessed to “meet” people here over the last 5 years.

Some of you are now my Facebook friends, so if anyone wants to join in there, send me an email.

I will, of course, still be found commenting on various blogs, particularly Catholic blogs and especially Aussie Catholic blogs.

Perhaps you would all be so kind as to offer up a little prayer for me and the family. There is not much wrong – just the normal vicissitudes of life, but a prayer would be just the thing.

Thanks for all your work over the years, Louise. I didn’t get to comment often, but you were always entertaining. We will pray for you and your family, and please feel free to comment copiously on this blog, now that you have all that “free time”!

Thanks, David. You can see that I haven’t given up commenting elsewhere! Did Matthias enjoy singing at Mass? (I assume you’re here, somewhere, Matthias, and can presumably answer for yourself).

Yes i really enjoyed it. I felt like the psalmist-” it was good that we had been in the House of the Lord”.
merry christmas louise to youand your loved ones

      • Louise says:

Glad you enjoyed it Matthias. Merry Christmas to you and the family too.

Matthias’ voice is very well matched to mine, and I hope we can do it again sometime soon. Mind you, due to a late night out the night before celebrating my friend Martin’s confirmation and reception into the Church, I woke only 40 minutes before mass, and so my voice had not properly warmed up yet, so Matthias was actually in better form than me. Blessed is the cantor who sings at a evening mass!

Keep up the good work, Louise.

    admired youre courage
