Have I missed out a link to your blog?

As you can see, I have attempted to redo my links as the next stage of the rebuild of my blog. If I have overlooked your blog, please let me know.

  1. GAB says:

Mine’s not up there yet. On the other hand, I can’t actually remember if it was up there during this blog’s previous incarnation either. Your call.

    • Schütz says:

Thanks, Glenn. I’ve put it up now!

    • matthias says:

Yes GAB’s HWAET (can i ask what that stands for) was already on the previous blogsite

      • GAB says:

Not an acronym actually. It’s an Anglo-Saxon word meaning ‘Behold!’ but also sometimes used with the meaning of ‘why’ or ‘wherefore’. More famously, it’s the first word of the poem Beowulf.

        • Peregrinus says:

Strictly speaking, it’s an archaic – very archaic – spelling of the common word “what”, and it has the full range of meanings that the modern “what” has, plus a few more. One sense is of an interjection with no intrinsic meaning, but serving to call attention to what follows. That sense of the word survived until quite recently in expressions like what ho! but is now obsolete.

This function is now fulfilled by words like now (“Now in those days a degree went out from Caesar Augustus that a census be taken . . .”), well (“So what’s the strike about? Well, it’s mainly about wages . . . “) or “look” (“Ah, look, you need to connect the spark plug before you pull the cord.”).

  2. Glad you’re back online, David.

  3. Mine is neither a very big or important blog, although you did have a link up before. Up to you if you wish to continue to do so. I won’t stop reading the blog if you don’t. ;)
