About This Blog
Sentire Cum Ecclesia began years ago back when blogs were the latest thing. They are a bit passe now, and I spend most of my time on twitter (@scecclesia) but from time to time, I do add new things on this ‘ere website. Mostly I use it as a place for journaling about my Pilgrimage experiences.

"Catholic Catholics", "Anglican Anglicans", and the rest
In a letter to the editor in yesterday’s edition of The Age (entitled oddly “Catholic Catholics”), esteemed philosophy professor Max Charlesworth wrote in opposition to Archbishop Denis Hart’s position against embryonic stem cell research. He wrote: Many Catholics I know, … Continue reading

Doing the Novus Ordo Mass so well we wouldn't need a universal indult for the Tridentine Rite
I published this as a comment to the blog below, but thought that I would post it as a main entry for all to see, since it is one of my most dearly held opinions regarding the liturgy. Tony had … Continue reading

All priests should dedicate themselves with generosity, commitment and competency to administering the sacrament of Reconciliation. In this regard, it is important that the confessionals in our churches should be clearly visible expressions of the importance of this sacrament. Sacramentum … Continue reading

If my kids can do it, so can you: Learning to sing the Latin Prayers
Nor should we forget that the faithful can be taught to recite the more common prayers in Latin, and also to sing parts of the liturgy to Gregorian chant. Sacramentum Caritatis §62 Of course they–WE–can. We’re not stupid, are we? … Continue reading

What a load of cobblers… Cathnews report on Sacramentum Caritatis

Ready, aim, fire! (Benedict XVI takes aim at Liturgical Experts who bag Eucharistic Adoration)
One of the bits I really enjoyed from Sacramentum Caritatis is from paragraph 66, where Benedict scores a direct hit against the enemies of Eucharistic Adoration: A growing appreciation of this significant aspect of the Church’s faith has been an … Continue reading

Disappointment with Sacramentum Caritatis?
If you do a Google blog search of “disappointed” and “Sacramentum Caritatis”, you will score quite a few hits. Many of course were hoping for the Motu Proprio, which now appears as distant as ever. Many others were hoping for … Continue reading

Archbishop Hart trumps Pope in "The Age"
When I read Archbishop Denis Hart’s Press Release on Human Cloning yesterday, I thought, I should blog on that. Little did I expect that Barney Zwartz would beat me to it, and give His Grace’s objection front page headlines in … Continue reading

I said I was going to bed to read Sacramentum Caritatis, didn’t I? But I was sidetracked by the fact that my site-meter recorded more than 85 people visiting my blog today. Where are they all coming from, I wondered? … Continue reading

It's here! It's here! It's here! Sacramentum Caritatis (sans Motu Proprio as far as I can see, though)
Yes, Sacramentum Caritatis is here folks. I am about to print it off and retire to bed to read it through. All the work I had lined up for this evening can now take a running jump. Nothing about the … Continue reading
