Melbourne has been invaded by hourdes of happy Catholics from around the world. Here are some pictures and video from today’s events in Melbourne for Days in the Diocese. First, an Interfaith Peace event held in Federation Square. This is a little like the one my office is holding later on Sunday, but was organised independantly of us by the Oblates of Mary Immaculate – and the crowd are mostly Oblate Youth from around the world.

This is my mate, Jag Shergill (red turban). He is a Sikh with a Catholic fiance. Among his friends in this picture is a Sri Lankan priest, and (on the far left) a Professor of History of Religion from the Punjab who did his doctoral studies in Liberation Theology as it is reflected in the Sikh scriptures… now there’s an original doctoral topic!
