About This Blog
Sentire Cum Ecclesia began years ago back when blogs were the latest thing. They are a bit passe now, and I spend most of my time on twitter (@scecclesia) but from time to time, I do add new things on this ‘ere website. Mostly I use it as a place for journaling about my Pilgrimage experiences.
The motto of the blog is:

What's up between the Estonian and Russian Orthodox?
It is never a good start to a dialogue meeting when one of the parties walks out. Even worse when the walk out is because of a disagreement between participants on the same side of the table. Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev–yes, … Continue reading

What happened to Bishops under "Pope Luther"–Proof of the Discontinuity
Regular readers will know that one of the three reasons I came to accept the Catholic faith was “Continuity” (the other two were “authenticity” and “authority”–you can see the relation). Of all the “discontinuities” in Lutheranism, the most obvious was … Continue reading

Why I support my daughters' initiation into the Lutheran Church
After the last post (on the difference between Lutheran and Catholic doctrines of absolution), in which I remarked that my daughter recently did her first confession with her Lutheran pastor, following preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation at her Catholic … Continue reading

Fundamental difference in Lutheran and Catholic understanding of Absolution?
It is interesting that, as far as I know, “the Sacrament of Reconciliation” (in Catholic parlance) or “Confession and Absolution” (in Lutheran parlance) has never been a subject for official dialogue between Lutherans and Catholics. You will remember me saying … Continue reading

Deleted entry
I recently broke a “cast iron rule” I made for myself when I first began blogging. I blogged on an issue directly related to work. That blog entry is gone. I removed it of my own volition. However the issues … Continue reading

Just a quick entry to say that I am back in the world of the bloggers again after a little family time. On the break, I began reading Ian Ker’s “Mere Catholicism”. I have a few pages to go, and … Continue reading

Dear Reader, Thanks for visiting Sentire Cum Ecclesia! It’s school holidays here in Victoria, and we have set aside the next week for “family time”. So (by command of SWMBO–as Rumpole would say) there will be NO BLOGGING until Monday … Continue reading

You do it less when you are really busy. And I have been busy of late. Early mornings followed by late evenings. Yesterday began with the Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom at 7:30am in the ACU chapel. Fr Lawrence … Continue reading
